Trump leads Harris in North Carolina Quinnipiac poll
Former President Trump now holds a narrow 2-point lead over Vice President Harris in a recent Quinnipiac poll of likely voters in North Carolina, marking a shift from just weeks ago when Harris was ahead by 3 points. In the latest survey, Trump received 49 percent support compared to Harris’s 47 percent, with Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Justice For All Party candidate Cornel West each garnering 1 percent. The poll, conducted in late September and released on Tuesday, indicates a head-to-head matchup with Trump at 49 percent and Harris at 48 percent, suggesting the race is still too close to call due to the margin of error.
The latest data reveals some changes in voter dynamics since last month’s poll, which had Harris leading Trump by 3 points, 49 percent to 46 percent. While Harris has seen an increase in support from independents, her backing among young voters has significantly declined. Currently, independents favor Harris over Trump by 2 points, a shift from Trump’s previous 5-point advantage. Notably, Harris’s support among voters aged 18-34 dropped by 31 points, while Trump’s support increased among this demographic. As both candidates intensify their focus on North Carolina, which has 16 electoral votes and was won by Trump in 2020, recent polls indicate a tight race with both candidates nearly tied in other surveys as well.
