Olivia Nuzzi, a prominent political writer for New York Magazine, has filed a complaint against her former fiancé, Ryan Lizza, alleging harassment and blackmail. In the court documents submitted to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, Nuzzi claims that Lizza, a political reporter at Politico, hacked into her devices and even stole one to surveil her.
She alleges that he used this information to pressure her into rekindling their relationship and brought damaging information to her employer, suggesting that some of the materials distributed to the media were manipulated.
On Tuesday, Nuzzi was granted a temporary protection order against Lizza, prohibiting any contact between them and mandating that he cease using any illegally obtained information. Lizza has denied the allegations, expressing disappointment over what he called false accusations aimed at diverting attention from Nuzzi’s personal and professional issues.
Nuzzi also mentioned to The New York Times that she reported similar accusations to the FBI last week, but the agency declined to comment.
Following these developments, Lizza and Politico agreed that he would take a leave of absence while an internal investigation was underway. Meanwhile, Nuzzi’s previous relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. surfaced in September, leading to further scrutiny regarding the dynamics of her professional and personal life.
