……..Placed 3rd With 19 Gold,15 Silver, and 29 Bronze Medals
It was a podium finish for Team Edo at the 8th National Youth Games ‘Asaba 2024’ which ended on Thursday, September 19, 2024 after garnering a total of 63 medals; 19 Gold,15 Silver and 29 Bronze medals to place 3rd on the medal table on the last day of event.
Team Edo with their red and white traditional colours stood in the 3rd position on the podium and received the third best team award and honour during the closing ceremony of the event at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State.
In wrestling, Edo won silver in female event on the final day. They also won 1 Gold (-37 kg male), 1 silver (-37 kg Female) and a bronze (-55 kg Female) in kickboxing.
In the final medal table released by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) on Thursday, team Delta emerged champions for the third consecutive time with a total of 111 medals; 46 Gold, 31 Silver and 34 Bronze Medals.
Lagos came second with a total of 65 medals; 26 Gold, 20 Silver and 19 Bronze.
Team Edo came Third with a total of 63 Medals; 19 Gold, 15 Silver and 29 Bronze.
While Team Bayelsa, Kwara and Ogun came fourth, Fifth and sixth respectively.
Team Ebonyi State is the only side that participated in the competition without any medal for their efforts.
