Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has ordered the suspension of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Akuku-Toru LGA, Otonye Briggs, with immediate effect.
The Governor has also appointed, Hon Bitebobo Nelson Amieye to take over as Chairman
Fubara gave the directive in a statement issued on Tuesday in Port Harcourt by his media aide, Nelson Chukwudi, and sent to newsmen.
Though no reason was given for the suspension
The statement read, “The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon Barrister Otonye Briggs, has been suspended with immediate effect.
“The Governor has directed Hon Bitebobo Nelson Amieye, to immediately take over as Chairman.
“Barrister Otonye Briggs is hereby directed to hand over all council property in his possession to the Caretaker Committee Chairman.”
