With the rising price of petrol and its effect on the cost of transportation, most Nigerians are finding it difficult to commute.
Aba residents are getting their fair share of the hard times. To compound the situation is the resumption of schools, with most parents wondering how they would deal with the situation.
The Member representing Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency, Hon. Alex Ikwechegh, Onyeocha n’Aba, as part of his efforts to bring succour to his constituents, has launched a free transportation scheme for students, traders and residents of Aba.
The free transport scheme which has kicked off, will provide free transport services to interested commuters with all running costs borne by Hon. Ikwechegh.
Two new coaster buses are currently stationed at the Constituency office, 59 Pound Road by Georges, Aba to facilitate this initiative.
According to Hon. Ikwechegh, he said; “I am thrilled to launch this free transportation scheme, which will bring succor to our students, traders and every inhabitant of our dear Aba city,”
“I am not oblivious to the daunting economic burden that everyone currently bears. However, I am committed to doing whatever is within my capacity to quell or minimize the biting economic conundrum that has befallen us during this period.”
This act underscores Hon. Ikwechegh’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of his constituents, despite the current economic difficulties. He has urged interested constituents to take advantage of this initiative.
Apart from the free transport scheme, the Constituency Office is currently housing 16 Electricity Transformers courtesy of Hon. Ikwechegh.
These transformers would be distributed to areas within the Constituency where they are needed, as some neighborhoods have not had electricity for years because of lack of transformers.
