The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested five suspects, including a woman for allegedly selling stolen tricycles.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed this during a press briefing at the police headquarters on Monday, September 9, 2024 said the female suspect, Maryam Ibrahim alias Ummi, received seven stolen tricycles from Kano State and sold them in Bauchi.
“The Bauchi State Police Command is pleased to announce the successful apprehension of five individuals involved in criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property through the diligent efforts of the State Intelligence Department,” the PPRO stated.
“Among the arrested suspects is a female individual who has been implicated in receiving stolen tricycles from Kano State and subsequently selling them in Bauchi State.
“It is heartening to note that preliminary investigations have revealed that she has sold approximately seven stolen tricycles within Bauchi.
“The suspects arrested include; Maryam Ibrahim alias Ummi ‘f’ aged 30yrs of Gombe road, Bauchi, Adamu Sale alias Brother ‘m’ age 30 years of address, Umar Ibrahim alias Baba Luti 31yrs of Gombe road, Bauchi, Nasiru Usman ‘m’ aged 29yrs of same address and Nasiru Musa Umar alias Nass ‘m’ aged 27yrs of Ibrahim Bako estate, Bauchi.
“This successful operation was made possible thanks to credible intelligence regarding suspicious activities and the hard work of the State Intelligence Department of the Bauchi State Police Command.
“Exhibit recovered includes seven tricycles popularly known as (KEKE NAPEP)
“We want to reiterate that engaging in the receiving of stolen property is a serious offence with severe consequences, as per Section 427 of the Criminal Code Act in Nigeria, stated that any person found guilty of this offence can face imprisonment for up to fourteen years.
