The President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, and his spouse, will make an official visit to Vietnam from [Sunday] September 8 to [Tuesday] 10, according to Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The invitation has been extended by the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and the President of Vietnam, To Lam and his spouse, the ministry said in a communique released on September 5.
Vietnam and Mozambique established diplomatic relations on June 25, 1975. Vietnam opened its embassy in Mozambique in 1976, demonstrating its desire to develop the traditional friendship and cooperative relations with Mozambique in particular, and with other African countries in general.
Over the years, the traditional friendship and cooperative relations between the two countries have developed positively through numerous high-level visits between their leaders, including a Mozambique visit last year by Vice President of Vietnam Vo Thi Anh Xuan, according to the Voice of Vietnam.
Both countries have signed many cooperation agreements across various fields, including political diplomacy, economics, trade, investment, agriculture, fisheries, science and technology, telecommunications, health, education and training, culture, security and defense, finance, banking, and local cooperation.
