A major shake-up is imminent in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, with non-performing ministers likely to be shown the exit door.
According to a top source close to the presidency, the dissolution of the cabinet is expected to take place this week.
The source revealed that President Tinubu is determined to inject fresh minds into the cabinet to bring the needed vitality to his government.
The move by the President is aimed at addressing criticisms and complaints from the public over the performances of some ministers.
President Tinubu, who recently returned from China, is expected to leave for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York next week.
The cabinet dissolution might take place before his departure, the source hinted.
The president is said to be aware of the criticisms trailing some of his ministers and is ready to take decisive action to improve his government’s performance.
The details of the dissolution and the identities of those to be exited are being kept confidential by the president and his trusted aides.
“President Tinubu is not satisfied with the performances of a number of his ministers and he is determined to show them the exit door,” the source disclosed.
“The list of replacements for the ministers to be axed is already ready.”
The source added that the president will reconstitute the cabinet upon his return from the UNGA.
The resignation of the presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, is not connected to the intended house-cleaning, according to the source.
