Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris praised the endorsements from former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter Liz Cheney, a former U.S. Representative, as “courageous” for prioritizing the country over party politics. Harris made the comments on Saturday while preparing for her debate against Republican rival Donald Trump, scheduled for September 10.
She was in Pittsburgh at Penzeys Spices in the Strip District, where she took a break from debate prep to interact with patrons and purchase spices.
Dick Cheney, who served as vice president under George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009, described Trump as “a greater threat to our republic than any individual in our nation’s 248-year history.” Liz Cheney announced on Wednesday that she would vote for Harris, labeling Trump a “danger.”
In response, Trump criticized Dick Cheney and his daughter as “irrelevant RINO,” a term he uses for Republicans he considers insufficiently loyal, on social media.
