Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign and the Democratic Party raised $361 million in August, giving her a significant cash advantage over Republican rival Donald Trump with just two months remaining before Election Day. By the beginning of September, Harris had $404 million in cash on hand, according to her campaign.
In contrast, Trump’s campaign and the Republican Party reported raising $130 million in August, leaving them with $295 million in cash by the end of the month.
Both candidates are expected to spend over $1 billion in this campaign, a record-setting amount, on advertisements and get-out-the-vote efforts in key battleground states. The fundraising totals, submitted to U.S. election regulators, are closely monitored for indications of campaign momentum as the election approaches.
Notably, Harris’s candidacy has energized Democrats and donors, with a surge in opinion polls and a significant increase in new donors. Despite this, polling averages indicate a tight race in crucial states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Georgia.
