Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), announced on Wednesday that the Israeli army is gearing up for a potential ground offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon. During a training exercise in northern Israel, Halevi emphasized that air strikes are currently in progress to weaken Hezbollah and set the stage for possible ground operations.
He noted the ongoing air attacks, stating, “You can hear the planes overhead; we are attacking all day long. Both to prepare the area for the possibility of your entry [into Lebanon] and to continue inflicting blows on Hezbollah.”
This announcement comes amid escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.
The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that Israeli army attacks in southern Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of 51 individuals, with an additional 223 people injured. The situation remains volatile as both sides appear poised for further confrontation.
