Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State, has leveled accusations against the All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming that the party is actively sowing discord within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). During a visit from the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) on Wednesday, Mohammed suggested that the APC has intentionally embedded moles within the PDP, particularly in Rivers State, to create internal strife.
The governor criticized the ruling party for appointing Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to its administration, asserting that the APC lacks individuals capable of performing at the level of PDP members. He pointed to the ongoing power struggle between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Wike, as evidence of the challenges facing the party.
Mohammed expressed his belief that the PDP needs to unite in the face of these challenges, stating, “We have to close ranks. While this situation is perplexing for some of us, any challenge is not insurmountable; with the grace of God, we will find a solution.”
He emphasized that the current crisis is a direct result of the APC’s actions, asserting, “It is only the PDP, with its governance experience, that is being challenged. This situation is a creation of the APC. They want us to be in disarray and are eager to have insight into our internal affairs.”
Furthermore, Mohammed acknowledged Wike’s performance, noting that even as a member of the APC, he continues to excel. He stated, “The APC does not have individuals who can perform like our members, which is why they have chosen to position him with significant responsibilities.”
In conclusion, the governor reassured party members that measures are being taken to unify the PDP, declaring, “We cannot compromise the peace and unity of our great party.”
