The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) remains on strike with no resolution in sight, as council chairmen have not responded to their demands.
The primary school teachers have been on an indefinite strike for six days due to unpaid entitlements and other issues. A recent meeting between the union, area council chairmen, and other stakeholders ended in a stalemate.
The strike continues, leaving public primary school students and teachers at home.
The union had previously issued a 14-day ultimatum, and while FCT Minister Nyesom Wike paid 40% of 25-month wage arrears, the strike persists.
