NASA announced on Tuesday that the launch of its Crew-9 mission in partnership with SpaceX has been rescheduled to September 28 due to the impending impacts of Tropical Storm Helene.
This mission will transport three NASA astronauts and a Russian cosmonaut to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the Crew Dragon spacecraft.
Although Helene is currently moving through the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to affect the northwest region of Florida, its size is likely to cause high winds and heavy rainfall in the Cape Canaveral area, where the launch is set to take place.
The Crew-9 mission was initially planned for August 18 but was postponed to allow additional time for addressing issues with Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft, which is still docked at the ISS.
Astronaut Nick Hague and cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov will be part of this ninth crew rotation mission under NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.
