Vice Chairman of the Rivers West Senatorial District in the PDP, Robinson Ewor, has revealed that Governor Sim Fubara has taken steps to organize local government elections in Rivers State. According to Ewor, Fubara advised party members, amidst ongoing confusion within the PDP, to participate in the elections. He also encouraged those who feel confident in their popularity to run under other platforms, with the assurance that the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has the authority to conduct the elections and declare the winners.
He further claimed that the faction led by Nyesom Wike no longer has the numbers to win elections in the state. He highlighted that politics is about numbers and people, suggesting that Wike’s influence has diminished to the point where his group would struggle to secure victory if they participate in the upcoming elections.
He said in an interview with Channels TV, “Governor Sim Fubara has decided to conduct local government elections. He has also directed members of the party, because of the level of confusion in PDP, please go and contest the election. If you’re popular, go and try other platforms. If you win, you win.
And Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission has the mandate to conduct this election and declare winners. They [Wike and his faction] know, that if they participate in this election, they won’t win. They no longer have the numbers and the persons. Politics is about numbers. It’s about persons and numbers.”
