In a recent statement, the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced its plan to replicate APC success from the Edo State governorship election in Rivers State, as reported by LEADERSHIP.
This comes as a result of ongoing political battle between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his former mentor, Nyesom Wike.
Chief Tony Okocha, the chairman of the APC caretaker committee in Rivers State, addressed journalists in Port Harcourt on Monday.
He expressed confidence that the APC would win the governorship elections in both Rivers and Delta States in 2027.
Okocha stated that the party’s recent success in Edo had set the stage for future victories in the South-South region.
He added that the APC is working to take control of all six states in the South-South geopolitical zone in the coming years.
“I will begin by thanking God Almighty who made it possible for all our endeavours in Edo State to come to pass. We are grateful to Mr. President and every other person who made sure that our party won the Edo governorship election.”
“We are sure we are going to replicate what happened in Edo I’m Rivers and Delta States in 2027. At the fullness of time, the South-South Zone will have governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he said.
