Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris’ name was initially missing from the online absentee voting system for Montana residents living overseas or serving in the military, according to the Secretary of State’s Office.
The system became operational on Friday morning, and it was noted that one voter had already cast their ballot when another voter pointed out that Harris’ name was absent from the list of presidential candidates.
Following the report, the online system was taken offline, and the vendor corrected the issue, bringing it back online by Friday afternoon. Richie Melby, spokesperson for Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen, confirmed that the first voter affected was informed of the error.
It is important to note that while Harris’ name was missing from the Electronic Absentee System, it will still appear on printed ballots in Montana, according to Jacobsen’s office.
