The Ondo State Young Leaders of Thought vehemently condemn the proposed Town Hall meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 6th August 2024 by the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jemila Bio.
This was disclosed in the statement sent to Peoplesmind by the Convener, Ondo State Young leaders of thought, Ogunsakin Adeniyi
We believe that this meeting will not address the pressing issues that are affecting the young people within our state.
We assert that the Minister lacks the necessary understanding of the ambitious youth policies outlined in the Renew Hope AGENDA of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Therefore, we believe that this meeting will yield no significant results for the youth in Ondo State.
In light of this, we advise all youths in the state to refrain from attending the proposed Town Hall meeting. We should instead focus our energies on more constructive endeavors that will advance our interests and bring meaningful change to our communities.
It is crucial for decision-makers and policymakers to engage with young people who are at the forefront of various challenges within our society. We call on the Minister to reconsider her approach and seek a more inclusive and comprehensive dialogue with young leaders who possess a deep understanding of the issues that concern us.
We urge the MinisterΒ to create platforms that foster genuine participation and inclusion, where the voices of the youth are not only heard but actively considered in the decision-making process. This will ensure that our concerns are adequately addressed and our input is valued and advise the minister to refrain from the proposed jamboree.
We stand united as the Ondo State Young Leaders of Thought, demanding a more responsive and inclusive approach to youth development in our state. We will continue to advocate for our rights and work toward creating a better future for ourselves and the generations to come.
