The Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested nine suspects for allegedly vandalizing railway tracks in Bauchi State. The arrests were made during a joint operation between the NSCDC and the Nigerian Army, following credible intelligence reports.
Fatima Adamu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Saturday. She revealed that the suspects were caught in Zango village, located in the Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, where they were reportedly involved in the destruction of Federal Government property.
“Based on credible intelligence and in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, we apprehended nine suspects connected to the vandalism of railway tracks and Federal Government property in Zango village, Tafawa Balewa LGA, Bauchi State,” Adamu stated.
Initial investigations indicated that the suspects had traveled from Niger State with the intent to carry out these criminal activities.
NSCDC Bauchi Commandant Ilelaboye Oyejide emphasized the Corps’ dedication to safeguarding national assets, saying, “The NSCDC remains committed to its mandate of protecting critical national assets and infrastructure.” He also called for collective efforts to combat criminal activities and ensure public safety.
