Baltimore Ravens offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris has passed away at the age of 70. Earlier this month, D’Alessandris took a leave of absence due to an acute illness.
The Ravens released a statement honoring D’Alessandris, describing him as someone who lived a life full of faith, love, and inspiration. The statement emphasized his profound impact on everyone he met, noting his rare ability to connect with people and spread virtues of respect, empathy, and kindness.
D’Alessandris began his coaching career in 1979 as the offensive line coach for Livingston, now the West Alabama Tigers. Over the decades, he coached at various levels, including the CFL and World League of American Football, before joining the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2008.
He later served as the offensive line coach for the Buffalo Bills from 2010 to 2012, where he significantly improved the team’s performance. After his tenure with the Bills, he coached the San Diego Chargers and joined the Ravens in 2017.
D’Alessandris was known for his ability to enhance the performance of those around him, both as a coach and as a person.
