Importance of the Road: The Abeokuta- Otta- Abule Egba highway is the second busiest expressway in Southwest Nigeria and it is widely acclaimed to be the second busiest in Nigeria. The road was initially awarded in 2003, with many stop-gaps until they arrived at current state. However, the construction of the road was never fully completed to detail and specification.
The road serves as a critical artery for numerous industrial hubs, including the Lafarge Cement Factory, various markets and 3 of the most populated LGAs in Nigeria: Ifo, Ado-Odo, and Alimosho in Lagos State. It is also the major connecting road from the industrial area of Ado-Odo Otta and Agbara to Lagos and other parts of Nigeria.
The communities along this corridor are densely populated, and the road’s strategic location has a significant impact on trade and economic activities in Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
Scope of Reconstruction: The reconstruction will include Site clearance, Earthworks, Drainage, Culverts, Sidewalks, Median barriers, Pavement and Surfacing, Road markings, Traffic signs, laybacks and Landscaping, among other features, to meet world-class standards.
When the road is completed, It will increase security along the ever-busy axis, provide employment for skilled and unskilled laborers, reduce vehicle maintenance costs and improve the general quality of life of residents in the area.
See you in 18 months. 🛰️
