NLC President Joe Ajaero refuses to honor a police invitation, expressing doubts about the fairness and intentions behind the summons in a public statement.
The Nigeria Police Force’s invitation was declined by Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
Due to other engagements, Ajaero declined the invitation as he explained.
His lawyers from Falana and Falana Chambers made this known through a letter he disclosed.
Ajaero has been summoned by the police in connection with supposed criminal conspiracy, cybercrime, terrorism financing, subversion and treasonable felony.
The lawyers representing Ajaero wrote a letter to the Inspector General of Police stating that the invitation was tardy.
The letter states that we, as solicitors to the Nigeria Labour Congress and its President Joe Ajaero, are writing this correspondence concerning the aforementioned subject.
Ajaero’s instructions have been relayed to us, stating that he is unable to accept your invitation on Tuesday, August 20. This decision has been made due to the fact that Ajaero only received your invitation letter yesterday.
“His engagement had been scheduled prior to receiving the invitation letter.”
