Nigerian singer Chike surprises an online critic by gifting them N1M, turning a negative interaction into a positive gesture.
Chike, a Nigerian musician, garnered attention for presenting one million Naira to an online detractor who suggested that his achievement resulted solely from partnering with the deceased artist Mohbad.
On Tuesday, an incident transpired on X (previously known as Twitter) when Chike posted a teaser of an unpublished track.
Daniel Omowonuola Lawal, a critic known as @Hateofx on social media, claimed that Chike’s notoriety was due to his collaboration with Mohbad by saying “Mohbad made you” on X platform. Despite this allegation, Chike responded quickly and challenged Lawal’s competence in achieving success autonomously:
“Your mother gave birth to you; I hope someone MAKES you successful because it seems like an insurmountable task for yourself. Jesus remains the king (augmented heart emoji).”
Ignoring the resistance, Lawal persisted in claiming that Mohbad played a crucial role in Chike’s accomplishments, such as his exceptional streaming statistics.
In response, Chike changed strategies by playfully teasing Lawal and suggesting he may offer financial assistance to him.
Chike expressed disbelief in the author’s upbringing stating, “I now have doubts that your mother raised you properly. If she didn’t teach you manners, at least she should have taught you how to conduct research.
I’m willing to send 1 million naira to help relieve your hunger and clear up any confusion but be warned that this could exhaust all funds from your account. Let the deceased rest peacefully.”
Lawal’s unexpected move was to disclose his bank details after their conversation, and Chike reciprocated by giving N1 million.
To showcase this act of generosity, Chike posted a screenshot of the transaction receipt on X with the caption “Go ahead hungry boy, satisfy your appetite.”
In 2015, Chike kicked off his music journey by joining Project Fame. He then went on to earn the title of first runner-up in The Voice of Nigeria a year later in 2016.
Presently, he is under Brothers Records’ label and recently dropped “Egwu,” an acclaimed track with Mohbad that topped charts last December.
Chike’s interaction showcases his readiness to engage with both fans and critics online, exemplifying a gracious attitude towards addressing confrontations.
Consequently, the singer’s action has led to discussions regarding how celebrities interact with their audience on social media platforms.
