Popular Nigerian rapper Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, known as Oladips, has accused Grammy-winning artist Wizkid of stealing his intellectual property. Oladips alleges that Wizkid sampled lyrics from his song “Ajala Travel Remix” in the recently released track “MMS,” a collaboration between Wizkid and Asake.
Oladips took to Instagram to share screenshots comparing the lyrics from both songs, emphasizing the similarities. Responding to a fan who mentioned that sampling is a common practice in the music industry, Oladips clarified that sampling is only acceptable when the original artist is properly credited.
He expressed his frustration, saying, “It’s normal if you acknowledge the source! But itβs not okay when they pretend they donβt know you and then secretly take your lyrics.” Oladips’ comments reflect his disappointment with the situation, particularly with the lack of acknowledgment from Wizkid.
As of now, Wizkid has not addressed the accusations made by Oladips. The situation has sparked discussions among fans and within the Nigerian music community, raising questions about the ethics of sampling and proper credit in the industry.
