Passenger plane crashes in Brazil carrying 62 people
A plane with the capacity to transport 68 people crashed in Vinhedo, Brazil, news website g1 reported on Friday.
The plane had 62 people aboard, including the crew, according to GloboNews.
Video shared by the site BNO news showed a plane, identified as Voepass Flight 2283, plummeting to the ground in Vinhedo, Brazil.
Sao Paulo’s state fire brigade confirmed on social media that a plane crashed in Vinhedo, and that it has sent seven crews to the region of the accident.
Voepass Flight 2283 was heading to Sao Paulo, Brazil from Cascavel, Brazil, according to FlightAware. The flight departed Cascavel at 11:50 a.m. and was scheduled to land in Sao Paulo at 1:40 p.m.
The aircraft was ATR ATR-72 (twin-turboprop), FlightAware said.
āThere is still no confirmation of how the accident occurred or the current situation of the people on board,ā the statement read.
Dramatic social media videos of the crash showed the plane spiraling out of the sky. Another video showed the destroyed aircraft in flames on the ground.
