Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has narrowed her vice presidential running mate options to Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, according to sources familiar with the selection process.
Harris is expected to announce her choice by Tuesday, ahead of a scheduled rally at Temple University in Philadelphia, which will mark the start of a five-day, seven-city tour through key battleground states. Shapiro, a former state attorney general with high approval ratings and strong support for Israel, could bolster Harris’s appeal in Pennsylvania but may also face challenges from progressive voters.
Walz, a U.S. Army National Guard veteran and former congressman, has recently gained attention for his strong advocacy and appeal to rural voters, though Minnesota remains a solidly Democratic state.
The final decision will follow a thorough vetting process, including evaluations by former Attorney General Eric Holder and Harris’s close advisors.
