Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has suggested that President Joe Biden should be added to Mount Rushmore, praising him as a “consequential” leader worthy of such an honor.
During an appearance on “CBS Sunday Morning,” Pelosi argued that while Theodore Roosevelt, who is already on the monument, is excellent, Biden deserves a spot alongside Roosevelt and the other presidents carved into the granite.
The suggestion comes amid controversy over Pelosi’s alleged role in encouraging Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race, which he did last month after facing scrutiny over his fitness for office.
Pelosi denied leading any campaign to pressure Biden and defended her actions, stating she never made any direct calls to influence the situation. She emphasized that while she did not feel Biden needed to step down, she had confidence in his decision-making.
Biden reportedly remains displeased with Pelosi over the perceived betrayal, though she expressed her continued affection for him.
