Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative is thrilled to announce the upcoming Students’ Empowerment Symposium, featuring distinguished guest speaker Dr. Samuel Akintunde, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor of Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo.
This highly anticipated event will take place on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the Music Department Hall, AFUED Ondo, starting promptly at 12 Noon, with Topic: Building Employable Skills As An Undergraduate: Preparing For The Nigerian Job Market.
Dr. Samuel Akintunde, a respected academic and seasoned educator, hails from Ilora in Afijio Local Government Area, Oyo State. Born in the 1960s, Dr. Akintunde received his elementary education in Ekiti and Oyo states.
He is an alumnus of Geography Education from the then School of Applied Arts and Science, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, and holds a Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Social Studies from Nigeria’s premier institution, the University of Ibadan.
With over two decades of teaching experience, Dr. Akintunde has ascended to the rank of Chief Lecturer in the Department of Social Studies. His academic contributions include presenting 32 papers at various national and international conferences, publishing two conference proceedings, and authoring 60 publications in esteemed journals.
His expertise has also been instrumental in training primary and secondary school teachers across Oyo, Ondo, and Ekiti States through various Universal Basic Education Boards, as well as facilitating workshops for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA).
Dr. Akintunde’s career began as a Geography teacher at Government Secondary School, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State, during his national service from 1991 to 1992. He later taught at Yinbol College, Orogun, Ibadan, Oyo State, before joining Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, as Lecturer III in 1997.
His extensive service record includes head of the Department of Social Studies, chairman of the School of Arts and Social Sciences Seminar Committee, and secretary of the College Sport Committee. Additionally, he has held leadership roles in the College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), serving as Secretary and later as Chairman.
Dr. Akintunde is not only an accomplished academic but also a dedicated family man, happily married with promising children.
