The Park Fire in California has become the fourth largest wildfire in state history, burning through 397,629 acres and remaining 24% contained as of Friday morning, according to Cal Fire.
The blaze, which began on July 24 when an alleged arsonist pushed a burning car into a gully, continues to challenge firefighters due to thick, dry vegetation and steep, remote terrain.
With critical weather conditions expected, including potential thunderstorms, fire behavior may become erratic.
The fire has destroyed 542 structures and damaged 50 more in Butte and Tehama counties, leading to the evacuation of approximately 1,578 homes and 4,261 people.
Firefighting efforts involve over 6,000 personnel, numerous helicopters, fire engines, dozers, and water tenders.
