Vice President Kamala Harris is preparing to finalize her choice for a running mate and will meet with several top contenders in person over the next 72 hours.
Harris is expected to be in Washington, D.C., this weekend with no public events scheduled, allowing her to conduct these crucial interviews. Some candidates, including Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, have adjusted their schedules to accommodate these meetings.
The formal vetting process has been completed, and the in-person meetings are the final step before Harris makes her decision.
The six contenders under consideration include Shapiro, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
Harris is anticipated to announce her choice by Tuesday, ahead of a battleground state tour starting in Philadelphia.
