Nollywood actress Lizzy Gold has joined the growing chorus of voices lamenting the country’s current situation. On Instagram, she highlighted that petrol now costs N1000 per liter, and food prices have soared.
Questioning how people are surviving, she pointed out that many are hungry, dying, and facing widespread insecurity with daily kidnappings. She passionately appealed to President Tinubu, urging him to take action as citizens look up to him for solutions.
“The new petrol price is N1000 per liter. Foodstuffs are extremely expensive. How do we survive this? People are hungry, dying. Insecurity is rampant. Kidnapping is on the rise. President, do something. You are the government we look up to.”
A week earlier, Caroline Danjuma, ex-wife of billionaire Musa Danjuma, shared her market experiences, questioning how Nigerians are coping with the exorbitant prices. Similarly, Nkechi Blessing lamented spending N150k on a few food items at Sunday market in Ogba, questioning the way forward as Nigerians seem resigned to the hardship.
In June, actress Uche Elendu revealed that a crate of eggs costs N6000 in her area, sarcastically suggesting the government ban eggs. Yoruba actress Yewande Adekola Abiodun also decried the N80,000 price of a bag of Garri, which was once considered a poor man’s food but has now become unaffordable.
