Kwara APC Local government primaries have been done, and winners emerged.
Naturally, winners are celebrating while some of the unsuccessful aspirants and their supporters are alleging foul play.
One should sympathize with the unsuccessful aspirants for not realizing their ambition of serving their people, but the primaries have their beauty that should not be underplayed.
The beauty of the Primaries is non payment of any money. No expression of interest fee nor collection of form money, and nobody was stopped from participating.
I am particularly happy that both the Party and the leader, His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq listened to our cry that members should not be exploited.
I thought that little amount would be collected from the aspirants, but His Excellency and the Party did more than our expectation by making the forms absolutely free. All loyal Party members should appreciate this gesture.
Another beauty of kwara State local government primaries was that the chairmanship and Councillorship position were not for sale to the rich. Otherwise, immediate past TIC chairmen would have an easy ride. All interested members were allowed to participate. This is the beauty of democracy.
Honestly, the leader in particular got it right
I am not condemning those who are shouting foul play, afterall it is better to allow the person that was beaten to cry.
The listening leader should do more by addressing the wishes of those with genuine complaints. Appointments could be created for them. This gesture would make us unite as a family.
For those who have never contested at any level of government but who are crying day and night on behalf of contestants, please stop and don’t cry more than the bereaved. Please appreciate the beauty in the kwara APC local government primaries
Despite some flaws, the kwara system is commendable, and one could even recommend it to the national if not for its major challenge. The major challenge is that if aspirants would not pay any money, the number of aspirants would be unmanageable.
Imagine if the chairmanship aspirants had paid N1m and the councillorship aspirants paid N250,000 for the forms, the Party would have been finished because the present noise would have been louder.
No money to refund to any aspirants, but some aspirants resigned from their work hoping to win the primary. Some of them lost. The final appeal to the Party leader is to allow them to return to their duty post.
