Mr. Benson Akpati has criticized Senator Ned Nwoko’s proposal for the creation of Anioma State, labeling it as a distraction from fulfilling campaign promises to constituents.
He expressed the view that Nwoko and his colleagues in the national Assembly should focus on addressing the prevailing economic hardship, security challenges, and youth unemployment facing Nigerians, rather than pursuing the creation of new states.
Akpati emphasized the urgent need for solutions to the fundamental problems affecting Nigerians, stating, “Nigerian politicians believe most Nigerians are not sensible. They understand the psychology of Nigerians. They will throw baits to Nigerians to keep them occupied while they are fraudulently enriching themselves. So, in the midst of all the current challenges in Nigeria, it is the creation of Anioma State that we should be worried and concerned with.”
He highlighted the dire circumstances faced by Nigerians, including hunger, kidnappings, and killings in farming communities, even within Senator Nwoko’s own state of Delta. Moreover, he underscored the lack of employment opportunities for graduates from universities and other tertiary institutions, stressing that many Nigerians are in total despair.
Akpati urged our people to focus on pressing issues rather than being distracted by the proposed state creation, which according to him, “These are total distractions.”
His statement read thus:
“Nigerian politicians believe most Nigerians are not sensible. They understand the phycology of Nigerians. They will throw baits to Nigerians to keep them occupied while they are fraudulently enriching themselves. So, in the midst of all the current challenges in Nigeria, it is the creation of Anioma State that we should be worried and concerned with.
Who will tell Ned Nwoko that Nigerians are dying of hunger; that Nigerians are being kidnapped and slaughtered in their farms even in his own state, Delta; that Nigerian graduates from Universities and other tertiary institutions do not have jobs . Who will tell Ned Nwoko that most Nigerians are in total despair.
People should stop wasting their time with these frivolities. These are total distractions.”
