The Babafunke Ajasin Multipurpose Hall in Isua-Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko South East Local Government Area of Ondo State hosted the inaugural meeting of the Akoko South East Local Government Youth Forum yesterday. The Forum’s main objectives include: Promoting unity and a sense of community among the youth in Akoko South East; Providing a platform for young people to voice their concerns and ideas; Collaborating with government officials and other individuals to implement sustainable development projects; and Encouraging active youth participation in governance and development initiatives.
The major highlight of the meeting was the appointment of a transition committee to steer the Forum until elections are conducted. The appointed members are:
1. Hon. Katola Kayode – Chairman
2. Mr. Atere Emmanuel – General Secretary
3. Com. Adelabu Omiyeniyi – Publicity Secretary
4. Hon. Kehinde Asunmo – Member
5. Com. Ayodele Friday – Member
6. Com. Daisi John – Member
7. Com. Ariwajoye Simon – Member
In his address, Hon. Katola Kayode, the Transition Committee Chairman, expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him and the other committee members. He emphasized the importance of inclusivity and collective effort in achieving the Forum’s objectives. He outlined the responsibilities of the seven-man transition committee to include:
– Organizing and co-ordinating forum activities and meetings.
– Engaging with government officials and stakeholders to discuss development initiatives.
– Mobilizing youth participation and ensuring inclusivity in all activities.
– Setting up a framework for the upcoming elections and ensuring a fair and transparent process.
The Akoko South East Local Government Youth Forum is poised to become a pivotal platform for young people in the area, providing opportunities for leadership, skill development, and community service. The Forum’s formation is seen as a significant step towards harnessing the potential of the youth in the Local Government.
The meeting ended with a call to all youth in the local government to actively participate in the forum’s activities and work together towards a brighter future for Akoko South East.
