….. advocate for capital punishment for corrupt officials.
Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwoland, has urged Nigerians to abandon the proposed nationwide protest and instead focus on advocating for capital punishment for corrupt officials. In a statement by his spokesperson, Alli Ibraheem, Oba Akanbi expressed concern that the protest could be hijacked by hoodlums, leading to property destruction. He called on President Bola Tinubu to address the nation and assure the youth of his commitment to eradicating corruption through stringent measures.
The monarch blamed Nigeria’s challenges on corruption by officials from past administrations and urged Nigerians to demand strict penalties for corrupt individuals. While acknowledging the democratic right to protest, he warned against doing so in a volatile environment susceptible to exploitation by political cabals.
Oba Akanbi stressed the importance of youth independence and resistance to manipulation by those with ulterior motives, noting many lack international passports and alternative refuges. He urged a patriotic and civil approach in demanding accountability, reminding that Nigeria is still developing. He advocated for capital punishment for corrupt officials, suggesting public executions as a deterrent, and urged President Tinubu to commit to fighting corruption and ensuring justice.
“Support our leaders with prayers, from the president to local government chairmen,” Oba Akanbi concluded, emphasizing national unity and dedication to building a better Nigeria.
