Ralph Lauren has been designing Team USA’s official uniforms for the Olympics since the 2008 Beijing games. Over their five-ceremony style streak, the American label has become synonymous with the team’s signature look for the Opening and Closing ceremonies, as well as their off-duty village-wear attire.
The company’s “Chariots of Fire” vibe jacket, paired with jeans, got a thumbs-up from some. But many on social media still participated in one of America’s favorite non-Olympic sports: trashing Ralph Lauren at Olympics time.
This was the fashion mainstay’s ninth straight time dressing the U.S. squad, so perhaps familiarity is breeding contempt as well.
Ralph probably invited the brickbats with its 2021
Olympic duds. This time, though, we’re not so sure.
