The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has described the death of the Senator, representing Anambra South Senatorial Zone, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah a loss to the media sector.
Ubah died the early hours of Saturday, July 27, 2024 in London.
Sources told the newsmen that the 52 year old business mogul and politician died of cardiac arrest.
The National President, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Chief Chris Isiguzo, (MFR) in a Press statement on Saturday, July 27, 2024, said the Union mourns the death of the Anambra State billionaire and politician with sadness and a deep sense of loss.
Isiguzo described the late Ubah as a political stalwart and towering media personality stressing that his impact in the media industry, was excellent.
According to NUJ President, the late Chairman of Authority Newspapers and the owner of Authority Media in Anambra, showed high degree of commitment to journalistic excellence and the empowerment of media practitioners in Nigeria.
Isiguzo added that Ubah’s media outfits have been a beacon of truth, integrity, and fearless journalism, which according to him, provided a platform for a good number of journalists to flourish and make impactful contributions to the Nigerian society.
NUJ President said Ubah’s leadership, vision, and relentless pursuit of a free and vibrant press will be sorely missed.
He stressed that Senator Ubah’s legacy in the media landscape and his indelible impact in journalism in Nigeria will endure for generations to come.
He said the sudden death of Ubah m deeply felt across the nation, adding that it created a void in the country.
