Chinese President Xi Jinping has invited President Bola Tinubu to visit China in September. The invitation was delivered to Tinubu by China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chen Xiaodong, at the Aso Villa on Thursday.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced the invitation in a statement on his social media handle on Friday. Tinubu has accepted the invitation, expressing hope that the visit will enhance Nigeria-China bilateral relations and advance the proposed currency swap agreement.
The statement also noted that President Xi would welcome First Lady Remi Tinubu during the visit. Chen Xiaodong, accompanied by a large entourage, emphasized the importance of this visit for both nations.
