Nigerian disc jockey Obianuju Catherine Udeh, known as DJ Switch, has urged Nigerian youths to view the upcoming nationwide protest from August 1-10 as a critical opportunity to address the country’s issues. As a prominent figure from the 2020 #EndSars protest, DJ Switch has called on young Nigerians to come together and reject the ethnic divisions being promoted by politicians to undermine the “EndbadgovernanceinNigeria” movement.
DJ Switch argued that Nigeria’s political class will continue to mismanage the economy until citizens take decisive action to save their country. She expressed skepticism about some politicians’ support for the protest, suggesting it might be for show or to deceive the youth.
On her X page, DJ Switch explained her decision to speak out despite initially considering silence, driven by her deep concern for Nigeria. She said, “There’s a time for everything—sleep, play, work, fight, or die! Africa needs to recognize this critical moment. If you know what time it is, act accordingly.”
She warned against being misled by those who feign support while intending to guide the protest into ineffectiveness. DJ Switch urged Nigerians to overcome ethnic divisions and unite for meaningful change, regardless of tribe or religion.
