National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ondo Joint Campus Council (JCC) held a productive meeting with Professor Olugbenga Ige, Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) today to discuss issues affecting the students and the level at which insecurity has increased in Akungba community.
The NANS JCC Ondo delegation, led by the General Secretary of the association and the Students Union president of Adekunle Ajasin University in Person of Comrade Oluwanishola Ajibola A.K.A General Aji and Comrade Boladale Oyindamola A.K.A Mandela of AAUA respectively. In attendance are, Comrade Asagunla Blessing A.K.A Gbotemi (Director Of Gender and Equality), Comrade Arigbede Olasunkanmi A.K.A Hon. Enamour (Director of External Affairs and Advocacy), Comrade Salami Akeem Ologbon among Others.
We presented various concerns including issues related to safety and security on AAUA campus and outside the campus, student welfare and amenities, academic policies and standards, and the overall atmosphere of the university at the moment.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ige, attentively listened to the students’ leaders’ concerns and acknowledged their significance. He assured us that the university administration would work tirelessly to address these issues in a timely and comprehensive manner.
Specifically, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the ongoing efforts to improve safety on campus, including increased security personnel, upgraded security infrastructure, and regular safety for students and staff. He also stressed the importance of collaboration with the student body in this endeavor.
Furthermore, we met the Akungba community king together with the Vice-Chancellor. We also discussed ways to address the security challenges in the area. Prof. Ige emphasized the significance of this dialogue in enhancing the overall safety of the university community and the wider Akungba community.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that this meeting was a key step in strengthening the relationship between the university and the local community, which will be crucial in creating a more secure and harmonious environment for all.
The NANS JCC delegation commended the Vice Chancellor’s efforts in engaging with the Akungba Community King and noted that this move shows his commitment to finding long-term solutions to the insecurity problem.
We are pleased with the Vice Chancellor’s proactive approach to tackling this issue. We believe that such collaboration between the university and the community is essential for the safety and well-being of students and residents alike.
