The African Network for Peace, Progress, and Development (ANPPD) has called on President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to hold a meeting with the organizers of an upcoming nationwide protest over the growing h@rdships faced by Nigerian citizens.
In a statement released in Abuja on Monday, ANPPD President Prince Elias Odoemena urged the pr0test organizers to use this opportunity to discuss solutions to the food cr!sis, as well as ways to reduce fuel prices and electricity bills.
While acknowledging the suffer!ng experienced by Nigerians, Odoemena w@rned that proceeding with the protest could exacerbate their struggles.
He emphasized the importance of engaging in dialogue to prevent potential escalation and avoid providing an opportunity for ho0dlums to hijack the protest.
Odoemena also commended President Tinubu’s decision to grant financial autonomy to local governments by separating their accounts from state control. He stated that this move would promote development and progress within local communities, despite opposition from state governors who previously benefited from access to local government funds.
In conclusion, the ANPPD called for collaboration between President Tinubu’s administration and protest organizers to address the pressing issues faced by the Nigerian people and foster a more prosperous future for the nation.
