Chinwendu Ihezuo staged a come-back to #TeamNigeria towards the end of our Olympics qualification, spearheading our attack but it doesn’t look like she was the one we were waiting for. I personally believe we weren’t doing badly upfront before her re-emergence.
Esther Okoronkwo was doing really well and her combination with skillful Jennifer Echegini was giving the confidence needed for game changers. The duo only needed to play more and blend better, becoming a formidable force.
Three Games Zero Goals as a striker isn’t what Super Falcons Of Nigeria needs at a time we have a lot to prove at the Olympics. We need the goals and it is obviously not coming from Ihezuo. She had her chance a Third Time against Canada but it was the moment of brilliance from Echegini that projected the highlight of that match.
I believe Coach Randy Waldrum is a fantastic manager who wants the girls to succeed and Nigerians to be happy. So I am pleading with you Coach…..
If you ever get to read this, we need the goals to even stand a chance of coming out that tricky group. Skillful strikers/forwards are more likely to deliver against Brazil, Spain or Japan than power/Bullish strikers. Hence, this is where I’m making a solid case for Esther Okoronkwo especially.
No disrespect intended, I just passionately want the girls to Succeed at the Summer Games.
