Location: Onimalu-Kajola Community, Akure South Local Government Area, Ondo State.
Honorable Adeyemi Olayemi, Special Adviser on Environment to the Ondo State Governor, conducted a site visit to an illegal laterite excavation site in Onimalu-Kajola community, Akure, accompanied by security operatives and directors from Ondo State Environmental Protection Agency (OSEPA). The visit resulted in the apprehension of one culprit, who was handed over to the authorities.
Prior to the site visit, Honorable Adeyemi Olayemi had met with Engr. Akinyeye, Federal Officer, Ministry of Solid Mineral Development, Federal Secretariat, Igbatoro road, Akure, to discuss the concerns of Ondo state residents regarding the illegal and inhumane practices of these illegal workers in the state.
During the site visit, Honorable Adeyemi Olayemi issued a strong warning to individuals engaging in such illegal activities, emphasizing that they will be held accountable for their actions. He stressed that it will not be “business as usual” for those perpetrating environmental degradation and illegal mining in Ondo State.
This visit demonstrates the Ondo State Government’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. Honorable Adeyemi Olayemi reaffirms his dedication to tackling environmental issues and ensuring that those responsible for illegal activities are brought to justice.
