A 74-year-old woman, Madam Alicia Afolayan and a driver, Kabiru Yakubu, who were rescued alongside four others abducted in Akunu, Akoko area of Ondo state, have narrated their ordeal in the kidnappers’ den.
Six victims of eight passengers were abducted on Tuesday, between Akunu in the Akoko Northeast council area of Ondo and Ayere in the Ijumu council of Kogi State
The victims, who were Abuja-bound, were reportedly rescued by the combined efforts of officers of the Nigerian Army and the state security outfit, codenamed Amotekun.
It was gathered that the victims were rescued after the security personnel combed the forest where they were kept by their abductors.
In an interview, Madam Afolayan and the driver of the vehicle said that there were eight passengers in the vehicle before they were attacked and kidnapped at gunpoint.
They said that the ugly incident happened around 7 pm, and they were rescued at about 10 pm.
”Eight of us were in the vehicle including the driver when they attacked us.
”It was so sudden, all the passengers in the vehicle ran into the forest. Everyone scampered for safety.
”The kidnappers immediately brought white dogs to trace us in the forest and some of the passengers were picked up where they were hiding.
It was gathered that the rescued victims have since joined their family members.
The search for the two other victims, according to reports continues in the forest.
It was gathered that local hunters in the community have joined the search team.
Speaking, a community leader in Akunu, Alhaji Abass Olorunosebi, assured that the two victims would be rescued unhurt.
