Nigerian singer Simi has talked about her new album, ‘Lost and Found’. In an interview with Saturday Beats, she explained how she carefully chose the artists she worked with on this album.
Simi said making ‘Lost and Found’ helped her find herself again. She felt the album truly represents who she is, and fans will hear that in the music.
She explained that after her last album in 2022, she started working on an R&B album but wasn’t happy with it. So, she started over, keeping only one or two songs. Simi admitted she struggled with self-doubt during this time, which was unusual for her.
Simi said:
“Making this album was an eye-opening journey for me. I love the melodies and sound. When you hear it, you will hear Simi.”
She also mentioned that she specifically chose to work with certain artists. For example, she did a sequel song with Ladipoe, and she had always wanted to work with Ebenezer Obey, who she says treats her like a daughter.
Simi emphasized that this album allowed her to make the music she wanted, rather than trying to fit into what’s expected in afrobeats.
