A Yet-To-Be-Identified Conductor of a commercial vehicle has lost his life in a fatal road accident that occurred at Tanza by Ifeanyichukwu Motors, along Nteje-Awka-Onitsha Expressway, on Thursday.
It was gathered that the crash occurred at about 4:30 pm and it involved the driver of a commercial Mercedes Actros truck with registration number WKR824XA.
The eyewitnesses on the scene said the cause of the accident was a tyre burst
According to the eyewitnesses, the driver lost control as a result of a tyre burst and fell on the road.
The acting Sector Public Education Officer of the Anambra State command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Margaret Onabe, who confirmed the incident, said two male adults were involved in the crash.
Onabe said while one male adult sustained injury, one male adult was killed.
She said, “The probable cause of the fatal road traffic crash was a tyre burst. According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control as a result of a tyre burst and fell on the road.
“Two male adults were involved in the crash. One male adult sustained injury while one male adult was killed(the conductor).
“Before the arrival of the FRSC rescue team from RS5.3 Nteje, Ogidi Police Division personnel had taken the killed victim to the morgue.
“Traffic control is ongoing, while offloading is in process. The Sector Commander Anambra State, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, commiserated with the family of the dead victim and sent his prayers to the injured person.
“He urged motorist to ensure their tyres are duly checked before using the road. While also emphasising the importance of spare tyres on all vehicles.
