Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Chief Seriake Dickson on Monday received a delegation from Angiana community (Bayelsa & Delta State) at his Toru-Orua country home in Sagbama Local Government Area.
The delegation was led by the Vice Chairman of Sagbama LGA, Mr Sufadeh Tobi and Deputy Vice Chancellor, University of Africa, Toru-Orua , Sagbama LGA, Professor Barclays Ayakoroma.
SakelgaNews reports that the essence of the visit was to appreciate Senator Dickson for the elevation of their son, Mr Tobi, to the position of Vice Chairman and for the federal lawmaker’s giant developmental strides in the area.
Speaking during an interview shortly after the well-attended meeting, Mr Tobi thanked Senator Dickson and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for finding him worthy to serve the LGA in the position and promised to repose the confidence in him while discharging his duties optimally.
He assured of loyalty, dedication to service and cordial working relationship with the Council boss and stakeholders to achieve set goals with focus on expanding the frontiers of development in Sagbama LGA.
Similarly, the Vice Chancellor, University of Africa, Toru-Orua, Sagbama LGA, Professor Backlays Ayakoroma, a relative of Mr Tobi, thanked Senator Dickson for his uncommon love and passion for his people, saying posterity will be tte judge of his great achievements and legacies.
He described the Sagbama LGA Vice Chairman as a grassroot politician and hoped he and the council boss, Mrs Alce Tangi will work together to set new records never attained in the LGA.
In a remark, Senator Dickson said he was overwhelmed and happy to receive the delegation and thanked them for recognizing his modest impact in the LGA and state in general.
He admonished the people of Angiana community to continue to support and pray for Mr Tobi who he noted has a very bright future politically, while stressing need for them to be peaceful and supportive to constituted authority.
Senator Dickson also called on all stakeholders in Sagbama LGA not to withhold their support for the Sagbama Council Chairperson, Mrs Alice Tangi in order for her to succeed.
Present at the meeting were Chiefs, Elders, Youth Presidents, Community Development Committee Chairman on both sides, Women and youths as well family members of the Vice Chairman.
