Anyafu-ijiji is a market at Nise in Awka South LGA, Anambra state.
According to what the villagers told me during my NYSC, it is the market where palm wine tappers used to come and sell their wine after their early morning tapping.
They will come as early as 4am and before dawn, they will be gone.
Why the market is named Anya-afu Ijiji is you won’t see anybody else in the market except the palm wine tappers and the buyers.
One day, as a palm wine lover, I woke very early to Anya-afu Ijiji to buy one gallon of palm wine for my friends and I and also to confirm what the man told me.
Brethren, I went there and saw only few people that came to buy palm wine.
One of the palm wine tappers saw me and called, “Corper, so you the like palmwine too? Take this one go drink, e sweet.”
“Wow! Baba, thank you o,” I said as I collected the gallon of palm wine.
I sat down at corner of the market and started sipping the palm wine.
I drank and slept off till daybreak.
