The Lagos State Government has identified two residents who were caught d!sposing of tr@sh in fl00dwater in the Ijesha community within the Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area of the state.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Wednesday.
A photo was shared on social media showing a man and a woman rolling a thrash drum in the fl00ded water on their street.
The X user, #Adetutuadeoye3, who shared the photo, alleged that the accused threw their d!rt in the fl00d water.
She wrote: “These people just p0ured out their waste in the fl00d water. This is no 2 Akewukewe Street beside Ikate Local Government in Ijesha Surulere.
Wahab, however, replied saying, “Thank you for bringing it to our attention. @muyiwag @lawma_gov, please take note.”
Meanwhile, the commissioner noted that the building had been identified and the house had been l0cked.
“The house has been identified and l0cked immediately by the Environmental Health Service Department of Itire-Ikate LCDA,” he said.
GlonatNewsonline had earlier reported that many areas, such as Iyana-Oworo, Oshodi, and Lagos Island, were subdued by floods, and activities were brought to a standstill.
Videos and pictures posted online show the extent of the fl00ding in different parts of Lagos on Wednesday morning.
Glonat Newsonline reports that the d0wnp0ur, which began around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, has left many residents stranded in their homes and rendered the streets impa.ssable.
This fl00ding highlights broader challenges facing Lagos residents.
