The Nigeria Wrestling Federation has unveiled six athletes that will proudly fly the country’s flag at 2024 Paris Olympic Games. They are:
✳️Military World Champion – Hannah Reuben (76kg).
✳️Tokyo Olympic Silver Medalist – Blessing Oborodudu (68kg)
✳️Reigning African Champion – Esther Kolawole (62kg)
✳️Reigning African and Commonwealth Champion – Odunayo Adekuoroye (57kg),
✳️First Timer – Ogunsanya Christinah (53kg)
✳️Ashton Mutuwa (125kg) men’s freestyle wrestling
The accompanying coaches are Purity Aku, Victor Kodei, , and Happiness Burutu.
The President, Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Daniel Igali , expressed confidence that the Ambassadors will put up a solid performance at this year’s Olympics. According to the most effective Federation President in Nigeria:
“The Nigeria Wrestling Federation is a very serious Federation; the athletes have been in camp training for couple of weeks now and in my view they’re prepared. “The athletes won’t be going to Paris to participate but to compete, and you know when someone competes, it is for medals, and we are hoping that if we compete very well, the medals will come.” Igali said.
The athletes and officials are expected to depart Nigeria for Spain tomorrow, July 3rd for a pre-Olympic tournament in Madrid before heading to Germany for their last camping ahead of the wrestling competition which will be between August 5th-11th .
